Ava Klopfenstein
Ava is a senior at Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Next year, Ava will attend the University of Minnesota Twin Cities to study journalism and geography in the College of Liberal Arts. In high school, she has stayed involved as the class treasurer, a member of the dance and cross country teams, captain of the track team, and as the president of show choir as well as a member of various other vocal music groups. Ava is a member of Amnesty International and National Honor Society, an officer of Interact club, and a mentor for the Iowa violence prevention project. She works at a garden center, enjoys berries, and hopes you enjoy learning about refugees as much as the team enjoyed creating the curriculum!
