"In working with my gifted students, we have begun the year studying how our brains work. I have focused on what it means to have a growth mindset as opposed to a fixed mindset. I feel like I am sort of priming their young minds to prepare them to be open to understanding what it means to be a global citizen. We will have a great deal of technology available to use in creating the end products. We have a television room in our school with all of the sound boards, cameras, and computers we need. Our journalism teacher is always excited to have various projects like this going on. I am going to collaborate with the Social Studies teachers as well as we begin to focus on some specific issues the students find most interesting. I am excited about bringing such a great curriculum to our school.

I am currently in my 21st year of teaching. I have taught in an elementary setting, high school, and now, middle school. I have alway worked to include interpersonal skills at each grade level I have taught. I have had extensive training in Holocaust education and attended the first gathering of The Freedom Writer Teacher Symposium. I am presently very involved in teaching all about growth mindset with my gifted students.

I am the mother of two adult sons. My older son attends seminary at Sewanee Theological Seminary, training to become an Episcopalian Priest. My younger son lives and works in Crested Butte, Colorado. "
