Tara Bordeaux
"This is my first year as a RYW Ambassador, and I look forward to taking my students to the next level by inspiring them learn to find their own voice through media based narrative storytelling that allows them to change their community and the world around them."
Tara Bordeaux is an award-winning filmmaker and Media Arts Instructor in Austin, TX. After ten years working in television and film production in Los Angeles, CA, she transitioned into education, where she has built a nationally recognized Media Arts Program in Austin. She is passionate about filmmaking and leading the next generation to discover their passions through media. Her students' work has been featured in national ads, televised on PBS, premiered at SXSWedu, and won multiple awards for video short production competitions. Tara is one of 500 Freedom Writers teachers globally, an Ableton Push Initiative Educator, and a PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Lab Instructor. She has racked up numerous teaching awards, and was recently named Austin ISD's District 2017 Secondary Teacher of the Year, as well as voted by students as the Teacher Who Inspires and Motivates Other Teachers and the Teacher That Inspires Student Voice.
