Educator Workshops

Professional Development/Direct Programming Workshops: Direct Programming and professional development for youth and educators is a mainstay of Rock Your World. We are engaged in ongoing trainings, workshops, summits and camps for teachers and youth at schools across the United States and in conjunction with our partners including: The Malibu Boys & Girls Club, the Los Angeles based Museum of Tolerance, United Nations Affiliates on the east coast, and internationally, in Mexico City, Uganda, Paris, Kenya and Tanzania.

Workshop Content: Our educator training workshops provide dynamic and interactive approaches for how to use Rock Your World in schools, specific disciplines/content areas, and clubs. Workshops are designed to correlate with curriculum content, grade levels, specific educator needs. In addition to an engaging and thorough introduction to the RYW online curriculum, possible activities include: 
  • Working with department teams to create parallel units using Rock Your World as a baseline guide or as unit enrichment. 
  • Creating project based learning units that span from 2 weeks to a full year, in one content area or cross-curricular areas including: science, social studies, mathematics, language arts, theater, art, music, etc. 
  • Incorporating RYW pillars to support SEL goals. 
  • RYW Curricular Modification exercises for ESOL and/or Gifted and Talented students 
  • RYW Curricular Modification exercises for students with learning differences or challenges 
  • Deep dives into subject areas featured on Rock Your World: 
    • Migration, Refugees 
    • Women and Girls 
    • LGBT Rights 
    • Environment Outline for usage in after school enrichment programs and/or sponsored clubs  
Materials: Workshop participants receive appropriate curriculum sets in either electronic format (usb) or printed teaching guides. Additionally, they will receive a selection of handouts including surveys, data sheets, annotated bibliographies and recommended sites/literature. All participants will receive follow up assistance as needed and a quarterly online newsletter. If a workshop is scheduled at Creative Visions, the Sundowner spirits are provided.

Workshop Fees: We aim to keep our workshops moderately and fairly priced. The cost of a professional development workshop is determined by the length of the workshop and the take-home materials that are provided for participants. Workshops vary in length from four hours, to a full day, to a 2 thru 5 full or half day sessions, depending on your needs. Fees range from $450 for a four hour workshop up to $850 for a full day session. Online sessions range from $175-300. This does not include post-workshop online follow ups which are complimentary. Material fees are $30-$50/person. Travel expenses are required. A detailed breakdown of expenses will be provided upon a workshop request.

(Trainings held with our partner, the Museum of Tolerance are approved by LAUSD for salary points and a grant will pay for California teachers' travel/board)
