Teacher Note: New to Hexagonal Thinking? Check out this Cult of Pedagogy Post
to get started!
Guiding Questions:
- What are the Sustainable Development Goals?
- How are these goals connected to each other?
- How do these goals relate to me?
Recommended Time:
45-60 minutes
Common Core State Standards:
Materials:
Hexagons with the SDGs and related concepts written on them
Possible related concepts: me, my community, my country, articles of the UDHR, any other concepts connected to your content
Lesson Design:
- If your students are new to hexagonal thinking, introduce the activity with the explanation from the Cult of Pedagogy Post.
- Emphasize to students that the purpose of this activity is for them to see ways in which these concepts connect with each other.
- Provide groups of 4-5 students with their hexagons and give them a set amount of time to collaborate and arrange them as they think is best.
- To culminate this activity, have each student individually and independently explain 3 to 5 of their connections on the “SDG Hexagonal Thinking” handout (see models on the Cult of Pedagogy Post).
